A Chilling Weekend At Dalhousie & Khajjiar, March 2018

With its beautiful breathtaking views of mountains and valleys, Himachal Pradesh has now become one of the most beautiful destinations in India. Although it’s only Manali and Shimla which is popular in all around India, but there are many unexplored hill stations which are perfect for a weekend gateway for Delhites.

Dalhousie is an underrated hill station of Himachal Pradesh but it is definitely worth visiting. You will fall in love with the beauty of Khaijjiar, which is also known as the MINI SWITZERLAND OF INDIA. Here’s a blog about my 4 DAY ROAD TRIP to Dalhousie and Khajjiar in the month of March 2018. Hope you get an opportunity to explore the beauty of Dalhousie!

Road trips are a lot of fun, if you have the right company, a Pahari driver and some amazing Punjabi songs which help you enjoy the long drive. As we were travelling with our family, we did the planning in advance which we usually don’t do if travelling with friends/bae. After doing a lot of research online, we found a home stay/apartment i.e. NATURE NEST-DALHOUSIE online.

DAY 1

DALHOUSIE-PANCHPULLA

As we decided to do an overnight journey, we reached Dalhousie in the morning i.e. 11 am. You can also do the same if you want to utilize the time, as you cannot do anything in the mountains during the evening time. Therefore, it is always a good idea to go for an overnight journey. The location of our home stay was awesome and it was surrounded by mountains and thick trees. The weather was very pleasant.

One of the best things which I liked about Dalhousie is that the roads are very smooth and won’t give any trouble to people who are scared of the zig-zag mountain roads. The amazing view of the thick pine forests and deodar trees is a treat for travelers. PANCH PULLA is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dalhousie and is mostly visited by people who like to do some picnic or trekkers. It is advisable to visit the PANCHPULLA during monsoons so that you can enjoy the scenic beauty of waterfalls and streams at full force.

DAY 2

DALHOUSIE- KHAIJJIAR

More popularly, this is known as the MINI SWITZERLAND OF INDIA. It’s in the lap of the Himalayan range and surrounded by green forests which makes it more beautiful. The scenic beauty of this place, with a pleasant weather and a beautiful lake right in the middle, this is a place you can’t miss. Although it was raining when we went there, I absolutely loved the view with my GARAM CHAI and MAGGI. There are some good hotels where you can sit, relax and enjoy the beauty of KHAIJJIAR.

DAY 3

ENJOY A WALK IN THE GARAM SADAK

Dalhousie is the perfect destination for people who love forest walks, and this is a place which will amaze you with its beauty. You can also enjoy the scenic nature trails in the little hill town, most popularly known as the GARAM SADAK. As you must have understood by the name, GARAM SADAK, connects SUBHAS CHOWK and GANDHI CHOWK, as it receives direct sunlight most of the times.

DAY 4

CITY SHOPPING

Every time I go for a holiday, I always buy something special from that place. This time, I brought a wooden photo frame and a PONCHU (woolen sweater). If you are looking for some beautiful handicrafts and wish to the local market, then GANDHI CHOWK is the best place.

From THE TIBETAN MARKET to HIMACHAL HANDLOOM INDUSTRY EMPORIUM, this is a paradise for the shopping lovers. The cost of the products starts from INR 200.

So you should make sure that you cover all these places on your next trip to DALHOUSIE. Do you know about any other places? Please feel free to share it in the comments section.

Happy Travelling! 🙂
